Important Health Tests Performed Before Marriage

Getting married is a stage which is important for every couple who have found a soul mate. After long enough to know each other, sharing stories and trying to unify the ideas. The relationship finally reaching the highest point. Surely good preparation to make it as a moment of the most beautiful is feasible. Time, effort and substantial funds are given to prepare the wedding. Busyness before marriage is not only felt by couples who are getting married but the family also made dizzy by it.

But often there is an escape from a list pre-marriage preparation. In addition to the wedding preparations, naturally couples prepare to face the ark of households that will be lived. Marriage is not as easy as what is told by the princess fairy tales as a child. Beautiful daughters and a good heart who meet a handsome prince eventually married and happy during his life ("happily ever after").

If the term marriage is to be prepared physically and spiritually, which also must be considered and included in the list are pre-marriage preparation couples health. Not only physically fit but also to be considered healthy according to the broad definition. Based on the definition of health according to World Health Organization (WHO) is a prosperous state of physical, mental and social as a whole and not merely freedom from disease or disability. So pre-marital partner health is important to support the achievement of a lasting marriage till old age. Marriage can co-exist and adapt, can overcome his problems with the wise and mature.

Ideally, pre-marital health testing done six months prior to the wedding. Premarital health tests can be done anytime during the marriage has not lasted. If at the time of checking it turns out there is a problem found then treatment can be done after marriage. The following are important issues related to health tests for couples to be married:

1. Reproductive Tract Infection / Sexually Transmitted Infections (ISR / IMS)

Medical screening to avoid the transmission of diseases transmitted through sexual intercourse, such as syphilis, gonorrhea, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis. Women are actually more susceptible to venereal disease than men. Because the V-shaped female genitals that seemed to "accommodate" the virus. While the male genitals are not "accommodate" and can be directly cleaned. If one spouse suffered from ISR / IMS, before marriage should be treated first to recover. In addition, if such a man suffering from hepatitis B and will be married, his future wife should be made to have immunity against hepatitis B disease. How, with hepatitis B immunization If the couple has not been cured of venereal disease and will remain married, despite not guarantee 100 percent but condom use is highly recommended.

2. A cross rhesus

Most Asian nations have a Rhesus positive, while Europeans average negative. Sometimes, couples do not know the Rhesus blood of each partner. In fact, if Rhesusnya intersect, can affect the quality of offspring. If a female (negative Reshus) married men (Rhesus positive), the first baby has a chance to air-Rhesus negative or positive. If the baby has a Rhesus negative, no problem. But, if he were Rhesus positive, problems may arise in subsequent pregnancies. If it turns out that the second pregnancy that her fetus is Rhesus positive, the pregnancy is dangerous. Because antirhesus antibodies from the mother can enter the fetal red blood cells. Conversely, no matter if the women were Rhesus positive and the negative guy.

3. Hereditary disease

Premarital health tests can detect possible diseases that can be genetically inherited to the child, such as albino. For example, the husband bringing nature of an albino but his wife does not, then the child born does not become an albino. Conversely, if his wife also brought an albino character, then the child must albino.Jika meet with couples who are equally brought this nature, marriage is not to be stopped. It's just that need to be agreed to have kids or not. If you still want to have kids, so the risk the child will be albino. Or choose not to have kids. Marriage should not be delayed by obstacles such as this. What is important is the solution or prevention.

4. Check Fertility (Fertility)

If a couple want a child soon, need to undergo premarital counseling. In this examination with the aim that pregnancy can be prepared and executed properly. It takes a medical history and social conditions. Among other economic status (working or not working) and the atmosphere in the family environment. Including behaviors that do not support a pregnancy, such as smoking, alcoholic beverages, and put on medication psikotoprika.Selain, it is necessary also evaluated the risk of the individual that may arise in pregnancy. Among others, age (still reproductive or not), the condition of nutrition, physical activity, educational level, stress level, and how the relationship with a partner.

Laboratory tests to determine the reproductive organs are also needed. Among other things, pap smear (if a woman is sexually active), uterus, and the status of immunity against diseases (rubella, toxoplasmosis). There is also examination of previous jik egg cells in question are considered infertile couples (difficult to have children). The cause of infertility is caused by man's 45 percent and 55 percent by women. Examination by ultrasound (Ultra Sonography) to see whether a woman suffering from cysts, myomas, tumor, or whitish. Lavanya Sutra Ayurvedic Beauty Care

Lavanya sutra is the session of Ayurveda that deals primarily with beauty care for women. Lavanya or lavanyam means beauty and sutra is a set of directions or techniques.

Lavanya sutra in Ayurveda is the technique of maintaining beauty by ensuring healthy living and addressing specific beauty issues with natural remedies.

The different sections of lavanya sutra are skin care, hair care, eye care, mouth care, nail care, foot care and keeping a trimmed and healthy body.

Physical beauty is not independent of one's physical health. Only healthy persons can have attractive beauty. Just like the case of health care, Ayurvedic beauty care also depends on freeing body from bodily wastes or toxins (called ama), optimum nutrition to body and the balance of the three doshas of tridoshas.

Ayurveda is very much skeptical about wearing make ups. Even an inch of makeup on face can't hide the worries of mind, period. There is one important aspect of lavanya sutra, Ayurvedic beauty care treatise. It is not only the physical aspect that gives beauty to a woman, but also her mental bearings. The happiness of mind will be easily visible on face. So is gloom and worries.

Lavanya sutra beauty care Ayurveda doesn't stop there. It reaches spiritual levels that the person needs to be in constant touch with divine to maintain internal and external beauty. According to Ayurvedic principles, one who is self-aware will be eternally beautiful and require no physical adornments.

The cosmetics used in Ayurveda beauty care are all natural herbs like henna, Aloe Vera, hibiscus, honey, turmeric (Curcuma longa), kasthoori manjal (Curcuma aromatica), sandal wood paste and such naturally available herbs that detoxify, nourishes and tones the skin.

Plastic Surgery for Men and Women

About 15-20 years ago it was an unbelievable thing to see a man looking for plastic surgery. It has always been a privilege of women, as men could only ask for such services in case of some serious trauma. Nowadays the situation has radically changed. More and more men are striving for their outer beauty: the idea of being similar either to Brad Pitt or Rickey Martin seems attractive to a great number of modern men. The adherents of the idea "Plastic surgery for women exclusively" quite often consider men willing to use the services of the surgeons crazy, though as the specialists say they are absolutely self-sufficient people striving for improvement and progress.

It is not a secret that the idea of decorating and improving bodies took its root long time ago and still exists in the culture of some tribes. If ancient men used their "plastic surgery" secrets for performing their sacred traditions and rituals, modern men are willing to change their appearance for improving their private and business life, unlike women who have become the originators of aesthetic plastic surgery.

Specialists say that males and females give surgery preference to different parts of body. While women tend to improve their appearance making themselves slimmer and more beautiful, men correct different parts of body tending to make their appearance more macho-like. No matter what goal men and women are perusing their main task is to improve their body. This idea can even be easily seen in the origin of the word "plastic" itself. It originates from Greek "plastikos" which means "to melt" or "to give shape".

Plastic surgery has become terrifically popular at present. However, it can be available not to a big amount of people as the cost of even minor operations can unpleasantly surprise you. That is why among people who has undergone plastic surgery there are mostly celebrities and those who are well-off. Nobody knows whether it is luck or not, but none has ever forecasted the reduction in prices for plastic surgeons' services.

Thinking over the possibility of using the services of a plastic surgeon one should take into consideration many different factors concerning this issue, but the main one is safety. One has to remember that in case of thoughtless approach to this idea one can put at stake the most precious thing in the world - our health - so be very careful making this responsible step.

At all times beauty was one the most pressing things for women. While some women are beautiful by nature, others are not and have to use cosmetic surgery. Residents of Boston can make use of Plastic Surgery Boston directory. The surgery has vital meaning for those who have the courage to try it that's why the choice of a proper service is very crucial. Directories like Plastic Surgery Boston can be of great help in this case because they allow comparing different services and choose the one which suits you best.

Pregnancy Weight Gain - Beautiful!

You find out that you are going to be a new mom in 9 months. You are so excited and are looking forward to enjoying every minute of your pregnancy. The thought of waiting patiently, then finally getting to hold your little bundle of joy fills your heart with happiness. Nothing can interrupt this wonderful feeling. Then it hits you like a ton of bricks...pregnancy weight gain.

Gaining weight during pregnancy is something most women fear. Having a "baby bump" is not the issue, it is the extra weight that is gained throughout the whole 9 months. Why has this fear become so prevalent within our society? Only two little words are needed to answer this question, the media.

The media has portrayed women as having to be extremely thin, even during pregnancy. There is such a craze about weight loss and women seem to feel they never measure up to society's standards. The fear of becoming obese during (and after) delivery has plagued the minds of women nationwide.

The problem with this is that not only will weight loss, especially via fad and crash diets, will have a negative effect on the woman but on the unborn baby as well. Everything a mother eats, drinks, or ingests will have either a positive or devastatingly and potentially fatal effect on the baby. Going on a diet or strictly regulating food intake to insure minimum weight gain can cause the unborn baby to have numerous health issues such as: malformation, thickening of arterial walls, brain damage, premature birth, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, be more susceptible to autoimmune diseases, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosis, and may other health issues in utero and after birth.

The mom-to-be will also suffer health issues by loosing weight during pregnancy.

To avoid any problems with you or your unborn baby, eat healthy foods and limit the amount of empty or high calorie foods that contain a lot of sugar or salt. It is equally important to stay away from alcohol, smoking, caffeinated drinks, and drugs. If you go out to eat choose healthy foods. If you are not sure what foods are better for you ask for a nutritional guide.

Despite the old wives tale that you are "eating for two", you are actually providing necessary nutrients "for two". You only need 100 to 300 calories more than a normal healthy diet for someone your age/weight. You should also have healthy and nutrient rich snacks on hand. It is recommended to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day. This will prevent overeating and, for most, prevents or lessens heartburn during pregnancy.

Why do I need to gain weight during pregnancy?

There are several reasons why proper weight gain during pregnancy is critical to your baby's growth and development, as well as your own well being. The number one reason for healthy weight gain during pregnancy is that your baby has specific nutritional needs at every phase of his/her development. This includes the stage before you know you are even pregnant. There are certain developments that can only take place at a specific time. Certain nutrients are required for these specific developments, which is why a healthy diet plus healthy weight gain is paramount for your baby to obtain optimal developmental results. Once that stage passes, it is gone and can not be "made up" in later stages.

By staying on a path of healthy weight gain also insures that the you are physically well enough to carry your baby throughout her pregnancy. Loosing weight and not eating a healthy diet can cause the you to become severely anemic and there is a possibility of a miscarriage especially in the first trimester. If you stay anemic during the entire pregnancy, you may have a problem with her red blood cells reproducing after delivery which can lead to health risks or, in very severe cases, can lead to death.

Whether you are underweight or overweight, it is recommended that you gain weight. The average weight gain is around 25-35 pounds. If you are underweight, it is suggested that you should gain around 28-40 pounds, and if you are overweight you should gain around 15-25 pounds. If you are expecting twins you should gain 35-40 pounds. No matter what category you fall in, it is imperative that you get prenatal care as soon as possible. Your OB/GYN will tell you how much weight you need to gain and how to obtain that goal in a healthy way.

How do I keep us both healthy during my pregnancy?

First, find an OB/GYN that you are comfortable with. He/she will tell you where you are in the "weight category". They will develop a nutritional plan for you and what/how often you need to eat. This will ensure the best possible start in life for your baby before and after he/she is born. It will also help you get in the habit of eating healthy and regularly throughout your pregnancy and beyond.

Second, you and your doctor will also develop an exercise regime that will help keep you at a healthy weight. Exercising regularly will:

decrease nausea/fatigue, lessen joint/muscle pain, lessens fat deposition in late pregnancy, raises your metabolism, and lowers chance for inducing labor/forceps delivery/C-section. 85% of women that exercise have uncomplicated vaginal births. Exercise also has health benefits for your baby. Your baby will be more lean, have a lower chance of exhibiting behavioral or chemical signs of stress, tolerate labor better, and do better and are more active at birth.

To prevent problems during pregnancy, start living a healthy lifestyle before you decide to conceive. If you are already pregnant, discuss with your doctor your current weight, how much you need to gain, what/how often to eat, develop a regular exercise routine, and go to regular check-ups to make sure you and your baby are healthy and stay that way throughout your pregnancy, during labor, and after delivery.

Block out what society thinks you should look like. Do what is best for you and your baby, and remember you are beautiful exactly the way you are!

Robin McGraw Gives Personal Guidance to Women

What's Age Got To Do With It?

By Robin McGraw

Thomas Nelson

ISBN: 9781400202140

218 Pages

I really didn't know what What's Age Got To Do With It? By Robin McGraw was going to cover, so when I realized that it included a lot of information on hairstyles, makeup, clothes, I put it aside at first. When I review this kind of book, I read it differently-I take it a chapter at a time...and I'm glad that I did! There is a wealth of material available to the readers and I recommend that this book be purchased for your personal library so that it can become a permanent resource for you. The emphasis on achieving and maintaining good health will make this a valuable reference for women at any age.

Many will automatically recognize Robin; however, if you don't, she is the wife of Dr. Phil McGraw and she attends every show! You will most definitely see her as she and Phil leave together. Beautiful Woman! Because she is beautiful, and because of her active role in this show, she receives a lot of feedback, questions and comments from fans of the show. My guess is that, by now, she has her own base of fans.

What's Age Got To Do With It? is all about women. Readers will quickly grasp that Robin has a great passion to help women and enthusiastically answer their questions. In fact, the book evolved out of the many emails she received and many are included in the book. Each chapter includes a personal narrative by Robin, giving lots of background about her personal trials and mistakes, which help to lend credibility and warmth-being willing to admit to having made bad hair decisions, and having to live with them, for instance, is not something we women normally are willing to do-we want to forget our mistakes! Each chapter also includes submitted questions that are answered by the set of experts who have assisted her in writing the book. And spotted throughout are "Robin's Rx boxes which contains interesting little tips.

I found the chapter on hormones the most beneficial; however, each woman is bound to discover something meaningful to her as she discusses women's issues from head to toe! Here are some highlights that I especially found beneficial:

"I wanted to share what I was learning and help them [women] understand that taking care of yourself and becoming an active manager of the body which God has give you isn't selfish-it's essential. (p. 4)

Women need "me-time" and must ensure it happens!

Exercise can reduce risk of major diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc.

A surprising side effect of too much sugar? Wrinkles!

A sample menu for 14 days is included!

Examine skin each month for brown spots and follow up if needed!

Read about/research bio-identical versus synthetic hormones!

Deflate puffiness around eyes by . . .

Big purses (and backpacks for kids) are not always healthy-they can create back, neck and shoulder strain!

Find clothes that are both fashionable...and comfortable!

Learning to listen to God.

Accept your age and work to keep your body God's temple.

It is not selfish to be an active manager and nurturer of what God has given you.

If you see anything in this review that you find interesting...then I have no hesitation. Buy and add this book to your personal reference library! What's Age Got To Do With It? by Robin McGraw is sensitively written so that you feel like you and Robin are discussing personal issues-and she's not going to embarrass you, 'cause she's be telling her own stories right along with you. It's time to read this if you are 20 and above!

What Most of Us Do Not Know About Hair Loss in Women

When people think of hair loss, they often forget about hair loss in women. Loss of hair in females is something that is more common than we realize. This condition is a significant issue that affects the lives of women everywhere. Women can more easily camouflage the issue of losing their hair by wearing wigs, scarves, hairpieces, extensions or using creative hairstyles, hiding the problem from others and often from themselves.

What Causes Hair Loss

Hair loss in women can come from multiple sources. If you know the different causes, you can know what to look for if you are starting to see the beginnings of this condition. If you have already started to lose hair, then treatment should be imminent.

One of the major causes in women is stress. Just like men, stress is one of the hair loss causes that can actually be stopped and reversed. Facing the problem and finding a solution to the stress issues, permits the body to get back to normal without the 'fight or flight" hormones in its system. Consulting your doctor is the best way to work on this particular cause.

Another major cause is lack of proper nutrition. If someone has malnutrition issues, or are missing some of the important vitamins and nutrients that they need, they can lose their hair. The hair cannot remain thick and elastic and the hair will not remain anchored in the follicle if the body does not have the healthy level of nutrition that it needs.

Another reason for loss of hair is the excessive use of chemicals. Hair loss in women can be caused by gooey shampoos or conditioners that clog the scalp follicles. Not enough shampooing leaves too much oil behind, and too much shampooing with harsh products that can strip the hair of essential oils can damage the hair by making it weak and brittle. Dyeing, perming or straightening the hair uses chemicals that are not good for hair health. Physical abuse by excessive use of curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers also can speed up the process of losing one's hair. Also, some prescribed drugs can take their toll on the system and cause temporary or permanent loss. Most women want to look their "best" as judged by society in the latest magazine and TV ads, but abuse of the scalp and body takes its toll eventually, and we can wind up losing the very item we were trying to beautify in the first place.

Preventing Hair Loss in Women

By being proactive and trying to prevent hair loss in women, you need to make sure that you are doing all that is possible to help make or keep the hair healthy. If you have the vitamins that you need, don't use harsh chemicals, and don't physically abuse your hair, you can be sure to keep it somewhat healthy. Keep an eye on stress levels and seek professional help if necessary. Hereditary thinning or balding may not be preventable as a cause, but using the methods above and seeking out some of the new treatments available such as laser hair regrowth therapy and a system of nutrients taken internally and applied externally, you can keep your hair looking its best for a long time.

Women who suffer from hair loss will often not notice it at the onset, as many do not expect that they would have to deal with hair loss in the first place. Don't be caught off guard. By being completely informed on how women can suffer from hair loss just as men do, you are one step ahead of the problem, and can take steps now to preserve or regain that beautiful head of hair you want to see in the mirror.

The Beauty Walk - Nature's Anti-Depressant

Nature's Anti-depressant

Have you ever taken a walk in the woods and felt a deep sense of peace and beauty envelop you? Have you ever walked by the ocean and sensed the power and majesty of its beauty filling you with inspiration? Have you ever hiked a mountain and when you reached the top felt awe as the expansive vista before you took your breath away? Nature is a great resource for re-connecting with your beauty. The nature of your nature in nature comes to life as life blooms naturally around you. We are beings of nature; it is our natural state to commune with the elements, to see ourselves as a part of the whole and at one with all that is. Aligning with the beauty of nature is aligning to your own nature, your sense of well-being and natural beauty as well.

When we move our bodies, and our bodies are made for movement, we allow exciting feel good chemicals to course throughout our bodies. Endorphine's are our bodies natural anti-depressants, they are stimulated by movement and positive emotions, they pick you up and lighten up your mood as you get your inner engines burning. Activating endorphins through physical movement and/or positive emotions and thoughts, can shift your burden of depression in no time at all.

The amazing thing about the Beauty Walk as a means of fighting off depression is this; not only are you releasing the feel good chemicals in your body, you are also infusing your Self with the beauty and magnificence of life around you.

The Beauty Walk

The Beauty Walk is exactly what you imagine it to be, it is walking and moving and breathing in the bounty of life that surrounds you. Becoming one with it all. For the truth of every human being and every particle on this planet is that we are all made of the same rich radiant substance of the Universe. All that is of beauty outside of you is also within you. You can never be separate from your own source of beauty.

With depression we tend to sink into ourselves, shutting off the light within us, and shutting out the light of the world around us. We feel disconnected and dis-engaged. Taking yourself on a beauty walk is a way to reconnect to the abundance of life and re-engage in the world. Just noticing the rustling of the leaves in the tree and thinking of how wonderful that sound is, as if the tree is speaking to you, or watching a bird fly over head, with strength and speed as it soars in the sky, that bird is alive and moving with purpose, take that energy inside of yourself, as if you are drinking up the experience and make it your own. Like the bird, you can move with strength and purpose. The beautiful blue of the sky, the light of the moon, the vibrant colors of flowers, these are all part of nature's profound beauty and perfection of life, just as you are, just as every human being is. Take in the profound beauty of nature and equate yourself to it, mingle with it, become it and allow it to become you too. This beauty is on the inside.

One of the greatest discoveries of my life, and possibly the greatest thing I do for my self, my body, mind and spirit is to take my 'Beauty Walks'. The Native American Indian's have an expression that I have loved since the day I first discovered it, I saw it on a bumper sticker once and I have been looking for that bumper sticker ever since. It said "Walk in Beauty". How wonderful is that?

I have been a walker for many years, it is my favorite form of exercise, it is the way I meditate and formulate my creative endeavors. It is the way I de-stress and release the garbage that rummages through my mind. Walking is a great way to ground yourself and circulate energy. It is rhythmic and it is the easiest most natural form of exercise. I have a background in natural health and healing, I have studied and practiced the healing arts of color, sound, touch, aromatherapy, nutrition and energy therapies for years. I understand that a healthy mind, body and spirit lead to a greater sense of joy, well-being and peace throughout our lives and I use the tools of these various healing modalities to infuse my own life as well as those of my clients. I have also known that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", an expression we all learn as children. To see beauty is to be beauty, this is something we have all heard but how often do we remember it?

I don't know when it happened exactly, it was a gradual process but at some point, I realized I was combining all these components together and turned my daily walks into what I call 'Beauty Walks'. I am proud to say it; I actually tell people I am going on my Beauty Walk, as hokey as it may sound, because I know it is an inspired action. I have shared this inspired action with many girls, women and men hoping to inspire them too, offering them a tool to feel more health and wholeness in their daily lives. I share it because I am inspired every time I take my beauty walk and the key element to the whole process is infusing my self with beauty, it is a totally sensual experience. I will add that I believe I am becoming more and more beautiful as a woman and a person inside and out because of these walks.

In my own experience of the Beauty Walk, I will admit that the first ten minutes or so are about decompressing. All the stuff of the day swirls through my head, my issues and disappointments, tasks I need to finish, things I am uncomfortable about etc. All of it surfaces until I get into the rhythm and start noticing what is around me.

When you physically take your Beauty Walk, I invite you to notice the beauty, even in a city, within all things around you wherever you may be. Notice architecture, colors of homes and buildings, see if you can find the beauty in a person walking by you. Open yourself to being a mirror of beauty and be the beauty that you see. You can use this to inspire your own form of exercise or use it as a meditation to ground, center and beautify yourself at anytime.

Women And Hair Loss - It Does Happen

Long, lustrous and shiny hair is every woman's dream. And not without reason! Undoubtedly, flowing, healthy hair augments the beauty of women and can change the appearance of the countenance manifold. It is unfortunate that hair loss can happen to anyone and at any age. But all is not lost because there are many things that you can do to ensure that you do not loose a lot of hair.

The first thing to know is that feeling humiliated about your hair loss issue and trying to hide away from it shall not help you in any way. Nor will the problem just go away of you ignore it enough. Using expensive body building hair products and covering your head with a scarf or hat may actually harm the health of the hair.

The next thing to understand is the specific reason that is causing hair fall in your particular case. There are many underlying reasons due to which one may experience hair loss and the treatment for each is different. Knowing the root cause (pun unintended) can actually help in deciding the exact treatment that will be best suited to your case.

The first of these causes for hair loss is age. As a woman grows her chemistry undergoes a substantial change and due to these changes cause by menopause, there are hormonal changes that occur. These hormonal changes can cause hair to fall in abundance to what you may have experienced earlier. The only way that you can treat this issue is by visiting a doctor who may prescribe certain hormones to you to reduce or stop hair loss.

Even though age is one of the major reasons for hair loss, younger women may also experience this issue. Many women tend to loose hair while they are pregnant. But the important thing to note is that it is a temporary phase and that the hair loss stops after childbirth. In fact, many women profess to have better and more lustrous hair after delivery than they had before they got pregnant.

The third and increasingly becoming more prominent reason for hair loss is stress. Most women today experience a lot of stress due to the pressures of work like accompanied with the task of bringing up children and managing the home. It has been seen that worry is a significant contributor to increase in hair loss. De-stressing is the only way out. In such a case one needs to look for external support from family, friends and relative to reduce the daily tensions that one faces.

Hair loss can also be hereditary in nature. Women, whose mothers lose their hair early in life, tend to follow similar patterns. Unfortunately, one cannot do much about this kind of hair loss since the genes dictate hair loss in this case.

Even though loosing hair is a problem many of us face and it is extremely frustrating to see your lovely hair fall, we need not fret about it since in most cases there are treatments that can be undertaken. We just need to identify the cause of the hair fall and seek adequate help to reduce or stop the damage.

Women And Weight Loss

Why do women feel such a strong need to become thin? And for the men answering this that do have an issue with over weight girls, what is it that makes you turn your nose and treat bigger girls badly? Besides a few extra pounds... there is no difference between a bigger girl and a skinny girl.

I think it is because all your ads are geared toward thin women. If you think about it ads and things don't show heavy set women. I my self am overweight and it is a little over whelming when you turn on the television and the ads all center on thin women. Why don't the advertisers realize that not all women are going to be thin? But I think that is why women feel such a strong need to become thin.

If you look back in history there is an ebb and flow to beauty standards that aligns with several other social values. Where there is "plenty" meaning food, jobs, healthy children; the standard tends toward forcing women into unnatural thinness. This is accomplished through not eating, purging, and historically through clothing such as stays pulled so tightly that a women could achieve an 18 inch waist.

In societies and cultures where the lack is the norm you will find that women run to larger sizes and the larger the better. In some societies women of girth are valued and young women are "fattened" up by their families before their marriage as a sign of their parent's wealth and to insure that their daughters will bring respect to their home and name.

In today's society where many women buy into the media machine and the need to be thin to the point of emaciation those that do not are outcast. This is true not just by other women but by society in general. The woman who is larger than a size 12 has difficulty finding clothing in today's fashion industry. If she is larger than a 14 forget it.

The larger woman will find herself confronting bias in the workplace as well. There is a tendency to believe that the woman who doesn't fit the "norm" is of less value. She might even be lazy, of low class, of low moral character, without standards or self-control. All of these and more get applied to the woman who is of normal weight or over-weight. Yet most people never stop to ask what might be the underlying issues of that woman's life.

I am personally appalled by society today. I was once thin. Now I am not. There is a reason for it. It took me years to accept that I will never be thin again. I was at one point suicidal because of my loss of body control and my loss of societal acceptance. Now I am not. Now I am just angry that individuals are forced to feel this way.

Women in Transition From Post Feminism to Past Femininity

"[In]... the brothels off Wenceslas Square, in central Prague, [where] sexual intercourse can be bought for USD 25 - about half the price charged at a German brothel... Slav women have supplanted Filipinos and Thais as the most common foreign offering in [Europe]." (The Economist, August 2000, p.18)

"I'm also wary of the revolutionary ambition of some feminist texts, with their ideas about changing present conditions, having seen enough attempted utopia's for one lifetime" (Petr Príhoda, The New Presence, 2000, p. 35).

"As probably every country has its Amazons, if we go far back in Czech mythology, to a collection of Old Czech Legends, we come across a very interesting legend about the Dévín castle (which literally means 'The Girls' Castle'). It describes a bloody story about a rebellion of women, who started a vengeful war against men. As the story goes, they were not only capable warriors, they had no mercy and would not hesitate to kill their fathers and brothers. Under the leadership of mighty Vlasta, the "girls" lived in their castle, "Dévín", where they underwent a severe military training. They led the war very successfully, and one day Vlasta came up with an shrewd plan, how to take hostage a famous nobleman, Ctirad. She chose the lovely Sárka from the body (sic!) of her troops and had her tied up to a tree by a road with a horn and a jar of a mead out of her reach, but in her sight. In this state, Sárka was waiting for Ctirad to find her. When he actually really appeared and saw her, she told him a sad story of how the women from Dévín punished her for not following their ideology by tying her to the tree, mockingly putting a jar and a horn (so that she would be always reminded that she is thirsty and helpless) near by. Ctirad, enchanted by the beautiful woman, believed the lure and untied her, and when she handed him the mead, he willingly drunk it. When he was drunk already, she let him blow the horn, which was a signal for the Dévín warriors to capture him. He was then tortured in many horrible ways, at the end of which, his body was woven into a wooden wheel and displayed. This event mobilized the army, which soon afterwards destroyed Dévín. (Very significantly, this legend is the only account of radical feminism in Czech Lands.)" ("The Vissicitudes of Czech Feminism" by Petra Hanáková)

"We myself...and many others are not in search of global sisterhood at all, and it is only when we give up expecting it that we can get anywhere. It is each other's very 'otherness ' that motivates us, and the things we find in common take on greater meaning within the context of otherness. There is so much to learn by comparing the ways in which we are different, and which the same elements of women's experience are global, and which aren't, and wondering why, and what it means" (Jirina Siklová)

"It is difficult to carry three watermelons under one arm." (Proverb attributed to Bulgarian women)

"The high level of unemployment among women, segregation in the labour market, the increasing salary gap between women and men, the lack of women present at the decision making level, increasing violence against women, the high levels of maternal and infant mortality, the total absence of a contraceptive industry in Russia, the insufficiency of child welfare benefits, the lack of adequate resources to fund current state programs - this is only part of the long list of women's rights violations." (Elena Kotchkina, Moscow Centre for Gender Studies, "Report on the Legal Status of Women in Russia")

Communism was men's nightmare and women's dream, or so the left wing version goes. In reality it was a gender-neutral hell. Women under communism were, indeed, encouraged to participate in the labour force. An array of conveniences facilitated their participation: day care centres, kindergarten, daylong schools, abortion clinics. They had their quota in parliament. They climbed to the top of some professions (though there was a list of women-free occupations, more than 90 is Poland). But this - as most other things in communism - was a mere simulacrum.

Reality was much drearier. Women, however mettlesome, groaned under the "triple burden" - work, marital expectations cum childrearing chores and party activism. They succumbed to the lure and demands of the (stressful and boastful) image of the communist "super-woman". This martyrdom - now threatened by the dual Western imports, capitalism and feminism - served as a fountain of self-esteem and a source of self-worth in otherwise gloomy circumstances.

Yet, the communist inspired workplace revolution was not complemented by a domestic one. Women's traditional roles - so succinctly summarized by Bismarck with Prussian geniality as "kitchen, children, church" - survived the modernizing onslaught of scientific Marxism. It is true that power shifted within the family unit ("The woman is the neck that moves the head, her husband"). But the "underslippers" (as Czech men disparagingly self-labeled) still had the upper hand. In short, women were now subjected to onerous double patriarchy, both private and public (the latter propagated by the party and the state). It is not that they did not value the independence, status, social interaction and support networks that their jobs afforded them. But they resented the lack of choice (employment was obligatory) and the parasitic rule of their often useless husbands. Many of them were an integral and important part of national and social movements throughout the region. Yet, with victory secured and goals achieved, they were invariably shunned and marginalized. As a result, they felt exploited and abused. Small wonder women voted overwhelmingly for right wing parties post communism.

Yet, even after the demise of communism, Western feminism failed to take root in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The East Coast Amazons from America and their British counterparts were too ideological, too Marxist, too radical and too men-hating and family-disparaging to engender much following in the just-liberated victims of leftist ideologies. Hectoring, overly-politicized women were a staple of communism - and so was women's liberation. Women in CEE vowed: "never again".

Moreover, the evaporation of the iron curtain lifted the triple burden as well. Women finally had a choice whether to develop a career and how to balance it with family life. Granted, economic hardship made this choice highly theoretical. Once again, women had to work to make ends meet. But the stifling ethos was gone.

Communism left behind it a legal infrastructure incompatible with a modern market economy. Maternal leave was anywhere between 18 and 36 (!) months, for instance. But there were no laws to tackle domestic or spousal violence, women trafficking, organized crime prostitution rings, discrimination, inequality, marital rape, date rape and a host of other issues. There were no women's media of any kind (TV or print). No university offered a gender studies program or had a women's studies department. Communism was interested in women (and humans) as means of production. It ignored all other dimensions of their existence. In sputnik-era Russia, there were no factories for tampons or sanitary bandages, for example. Communism believed that the restructuring of class relations will resolve all other social inequities. Feminism properly belonged to the spoiled, brooding women of the West - not to the bluestockings of communism. Ignoring problems was communism's way of solving them. Thus, there was no official unemployment in the lands of socialism - or drugs, or AIDS, or unhappy women. To borrow from psychodynamic theories, Communism never developed "problem constancy".

To many, women included, communism was about the perversion of the "natural order". Men and women were catapulted out of their pre-ordained social orbits into an experiment in dystopy. When it ended, post communism became a throwback to the 19th century: its values, mores and petite bourgeois aspirations. In the exegesis of transition, communism was interpreted as an aberration, an interruption in an otherwise linear progress. It was cast as a regrettable historical accident or, worse, a criminal endeavour to be vehemently disowned and reversed.

Yet again women proved to be the prime victims of historical processes, this time of transition. They saw their jobs consumed by male-dominated privatization and male-biased technological modernization. Men in the CEE are 3 times more likely to find a job, 60-80% of all women's jobs were lost (for instance in the textile and clothing industries) and the highest rates of unemployment are among middle aged and older women ("unemployment with a female face" as it is called in Ukraine). Women constitute 50-70% of the unemployed. And women's unemployment is probably under-reported. Most unrecorded workers (omitted from the official statistics) are women. Where retraining is available (a rarity), women are trained to do computer jobs, mostly clerical and low skilled.

Men, on the other hand, are assigned to assimilate new and promising technologies. In many countries, women are asked to waive their rights under the law, or even to produce proof of sterilization before they get a job. The only ray of light is higher education, where women's participation actually increased in certain countries. But this blessing is confined to "feminine" (low pay and low status) professions. Vocational and technical schools have either closed down entirely or closed their gates to women. Even in feminized professions (such as university teaching), women make less than 20% of the upper rungs (e.g., full professorships). The tidal wave of the rising cost of education threatens to drown this trend of women's education. Studies have shown that, with rising costs, women's educational opportunities decline. Families prefer to invest - and rationally so - in their males.

Women witnessed the resurgence of nostalgic nationalism, neo traditionalism and religious revival - social forces which sought to confine them to home, hearth, spouse and children and to "liberate" them from the "forced labour" of communism. Negative demographic trends (declining life expectancy and birth rate, numerous abortions, late marriage, a high divorce rate, increasing suicide rate) conspired to provoke a "we are a dying nation" outcry and the inevitable re-emphasis of the woman's reproductive functions. Fierce debates about the morality of abortion erupted in bastions of Catholic fundamentalism (such as Poland and, to a lesser degree, Lithuania) as well as in citadels of rational agnosticism, such as the Czech Republic. Curiously, prostitution and women trafficking were accepted as inevitable. Perhaps because they catered to masculine needs.

Indeed, in feminist lore and theory, both nationalism and capitalism are "patriarchal". Nationalism allocates distinct and mutually exclusive roles to men and women. The latter are supposed to act as homemakers and have babies. Capitalism encourages the formation of impregnable male elites, disseminates new technologies mainly to male monopolies, eliminates menial and low skilled (women's) jobs and puts emphasis on masculine traits such as aggression and competitiveness. No wonder female political representation in parliaments and governments diminished dramatically since 1989. When powerless, under communism, CEE parliaments were stacked with women. Now that they are more potent elected bodies, they are almost nowhere to be seen. The few that infiltrated these august institutions are relegated to "soft" committees (social issues, usually) devoid of budgets and of influence. It is very much like under communism when the decision making party echelons were predominantly male. The only influential women then were dissidents but they seem to have rejected the fruit of their labour, democracy, in favour of tranquility and peace of mind - or to have been usurped by an emerging male establishment. Despite an education in economics, they are under-represented among business executives, the owners of privatized enterprises and the beneficiaries of favourable pay regulations and tax systems.

This erosion of their economic base coupled with the drastic decreases in child benefits, in the length of maternal leave, in the number of public and, thus, affordable child care facilities and in other support networks led to a swift deterioration in the social status and leverage of women. With their only effective contraceptive - abortion - restricted, maternal mortality exploded. So did teenage pregnancy - a result of the curtailing or absence of sex education. The rate of sexually transmitted diseases went through the roof. Violence against women - rape, spousal abuse, date rape - became epidemic. So did skyrocketing street prostitution. Widowed women - an ever more common phenomenon in CEE - are destitute and reduced to begging as the pensions of the lucky ones are ground to nil by a rising cost of living and IMF prodded stinginess. There are also more quotidian problems (often neglected by the media hungry and soundbite craving feminists) like pitiful divorce maintenance payments or decrepit maternity wards in crumbling hospitals.

Yet, women's reaction to all this was notable in its absence. After decades of forced activism and imposed altruism, the imported Western individualism mutated in CEE to malignant egotism. A sliver of the female population did well in local government and as entrepreneurs. The rest (especially the old, the rural, the less educated) stayed at home and seemed to fancy this novel experience of dependence. A generational divide emerged. Younger women discovered the joys of conspicuous consumption and mind numbing pop "culture". They constituted the masses of career opportunists, the new managerial class, shareholders and professionals - a pale imitation of the yuppies of America. Older women retreated - heaving a sigh of relief - into home and family, seeking refuge from the intrusion of tedious public matters. Economic realities still forced them to seek a job and steady income (often in a family business or in the informal economy, with no job security or regulated labour conditions) but their activism vanished into newfound and demonstrative reclusiveness.

Yet, even the young entrepreneurs often fare badly. They lack the necessary business skills, the knowledge, the supportive infrastructure, or the access to credit. The older women cannot work long hours, lack skills and, when officially employed, are expensive, due to the burden of the still effective social benefits. Thus, women can be mostly found in services, light industry and agriculture - the most non lucrative sectors of the dilapidated economies of CEE. And speaking of the social benefits not yet axed - their quality has deteriorated, access to them has been restricted and supplies are often short. The costs of public goods (mainly health and education) have been transferred from state to households either officially (a result of the commercialization of services) or surreptitiously and insidiously (e.g., patients required to purchase their own food, bed sheets and medication when hospitalized).

To blame it all on a botched transition is now in vogue. Yet, many of the problems facing the wretched women of CEE were evident as early as 30 years ago. The feminization of poverty is not a new phenomenon, nor is the feminization of certain professions and the attendant decline in both their status and their pay. Under communism, women felt as exhausted and as guilt-ridden as they feel today. They were considered unreliable workers (which they were, what with a lifetime average of 10 abortions and 2 children). Their offspring endured an alienated childhood in the brutal and faceless gulag of day care centres maintained by indifferent bureaucrats. Juvenile delinquency, a high divorce rate, single motherhood and parasitic fathers were all swept under the ideological carpet by communism. Even communism's only achievement - the inclusionary workforce - was an elaborately crafted illusion for consumption by wide-eyed Western intellectuals. In the agrarian societies which preceded communism, women worked no less. And women were not allowed to work night time or shifts or in certain jobs, nor were they paid as much as men in equal functions. Job advertising is sex-specific and sexist to this very day (in stark violation of dead letter Constitutions).

Discarding the baby with the leaking bathtub has been a hallmark of transition. Communism has done a lot for women (one of its very rare achievements). Some of these foundations were sound and durable and should have been preserved to build upon. Yet the apathy of women and the zeal of power hungry men converged to yield an old new world: patriarchal, discriminatory and iniquitous. The day of CEE feminism will come. But first, CEE has to become more Westernized.

Younger Men Falling For Mature Women - Does This Make Sense?

First off, there's Demi Moore and Madonna. These characteristically strong, independent and mature women paired of with younger men. Then suddenly it has become the trend- a younger man and mature women tandem. And why's that? What is it that a man would find attractive in an older woman? We have been used to the notion that youth equates to beauty, and this is what men salivate after. Then it seemed as if the tables have turned. Mature women now have their sparks on center stage. Does this mean in anyway that younger ladies are becoming extinct? Perhaps not at all, but rather older women are coming to the forefront in the dating game.

Men actually find them attractive and the mature women seduction market is becoming lucrative. Even in forums and blogs, the brawny of the genders have spoken out on the issue. For one thing, many male of the species agreed that mature women exude exotic sexuality. This may not be surprising as these women have been ripened by experience. They do know their way in the bedroom. And they are known to be wild in matters concerning the sexual. Despite the age difference, an older woman may still have ardent passion in sex. A younger man on the other hand has the energy to keep up and be exposed to more learning experience.

Mature women, having gained sophistication and independence, are ready to explore the world. Men would love to go for the ride of the excitement. It is a different scenario with a mature partner, as some men would attest. Whereas younger ladies seek security and would want to be pampered, it's the other way around with mature women. It is the man who ends up being pampered and cared for with motherly affection. And they say younger men can be such babies in so many ways. Younger ladies often end up as somewhat of a burden for their partners, what with tantrums and being somewhat dependent.

But for mature ones, they don't need anybody to define them. They are secure of their identity and exude more stability. Then of course this brings the issue of men simply playing around with mature partners. They can be in the partnership for mere fun and experience, or even for financial gain. Mature women are often stable when it comes to finances, too. But it can be a case of give and take. Wherein the woman gains physical favors from a younger man. While the younger man gets to have financial gain from the set-up. Or in some cases, the relationship can have substance.

After all, affection does not primarily concern age, but is rather a matter of coming to an understanding. So how can a younger man win an older woman's attention, or else affection. Be it younger women or older ones, what remains to be attractive in a man is being a gentleman. Times have changed, and in the dating jungle, nobody really knows the predator from the prey.

Benefits of One a Day Vitamins for Women Over 50

Why are One a Day Vitamins for women over 50 selling like hotcakes? Why are these types of vitamins so fast becoming popular? What makes these vitamins different from the other types of vitamins that are being sold and what are the benefits women over 50 can gain from these health products? Well, in the general sense, vitamins are needed by the body and serve many functions as well as they support some of the processes in the body. Men, women and children require different amounts and doses of vitamins that is why there have been vitamins formulated for each group. There are also new vitamins that have been formulated just for specific age groups. Even though every person needs vitamins, it was found out that people do have different vitamin needs due to several factors like age, sex and the work they are subjected to.

Many experts and consumers alike have claimed that these One a Day Vitamins are revolutionizing the vitamin supplement industry. These one a day vitamins are the vital pills women over 50 need to take in order for them to become healthy and continue being healthy. Clinical studies have shown that taking a One a Day Vitamin pill each day helps to address several issues women commonly undergo as they age. These issues include skin changes, breast changes, and osteoporosis. These are the effects due to the imbalances of the hormones, especially of the great difference in the production of estrogen in the woman's body.

One a Day Vitamins for women over 50 can have so many benefits that it can provide to women. When women are prone to osteoporosis, the bones of the body become brittle due to the changes in the level of estrogen in the body. Unknowingly to most women, the estrogen produced by the body has an influential effect on the deposition of calcium. That is why women are strongly advised to take calcium supplements as early as the age of 35 to prevent the debilitating effects of osteoporosis.

The need and the importance of caring for the breasts cannot be emphasized too much. Early screening is imperative. Women as early as the age of 20 should start performing BSE or breast self-examination on themselves once during the same time each month. Breast mass and cysts could occur any time during a woman's life. There is also the issue of skin changes due to ageing. Women of all ages hate and just despise the thought of having crow's feet in their eyes; their skin starts to dry and some of the parts of the body start to sag. That is one of the reasons why women go to beauty salons and spas to get beauty treatments of some sorts.

These One a Day pills are backed up by scientific research and clinical studies that is why women are flocking to pharmacies to buy these products. A single pill contains 1,000 International Units of vitamin D which is a lot higher compared to regular vitamin supplements. There is also calcium, and high units of B vitamins which have great effects for the body. Of course, there are vitamins A, C and E. With these many components of the One a Day Vitamins for women over 50, it is no wonder why these vitamin supplements are oh-so popular.

Now, the best vitamins for women over 50 should be able to provide your body what it needs right now. It is very important to always read the labels. If you want to know what health supplements I personally use, go to this website: http://www.bestnutritionsupplements.com and you will see why!

But these days, all these orthodox thinking have been altered and there are several supporters in the female health and fitness and bodybuilding action. Bossy Women With Bad Attitudes

Women do not like submissive men, and men do not like dominant women. Women are made gentle and sweet men are made to be the strong leader. This article is written for couples in a relationship. So I am not talking about women being leaders in the work place or in places of government etc.

We are here to talk about bossy women with bad attitudes. These are women that are impatient and argumentative. They have to have way all the time and everything is an issue to them.

How do I know about this kind of women? I almost made the mistake of marrying one. But suddenly I got a bellyful of arguing about insignificant little things that didn't matter. This is not an article to run down women but it is to expose the trouble makers.

Women that are bossy can be really attractive women or they can just wanna bees. A woman can be pretty on the outside but pure ugly on the inside. Every time she opens her mouth it shows. She tries to run everything and make all the decisions. A lot of these women try to do everything the men do. They sit around watching football, playing poker, they don't wear make up, they don't talk with sweet words or even carry themselves in a feminine way.

Now not all bossy women are plain janes that do as the men do. Some are stylish, beautiful and sexy. But have a nasty attitude and only care about themselves and what they want.

How does you identify a bossy woman before you wind up stuck with one and cant get rid of her? Bossy women also known as argumentative women with a bad attitude do not give you a chance to form an opinion or even finish your sentence

You always have to be on the defensive and you always have to walk to on eggshells around them because you never know what will set them off. You have to watch everything you so that you don't cause them to explode.

Every time you try to talk to them they give you that look like yeah I already know what you are talking, yeah uh huh OK. Women like this can't even share in your excitement with you cause they've done been there and done that.

And they know exactly what you are saying so eventually you realize that you may as well not say anything because nothing thrills her. She always has to have male friends to talk to but if you do the same you catch what I refer to as the bitchitude.

Bossy women usually make it a habit to belittle you all the time, they run down your looks or your hobbies and interests. They are very critical. They like to criticize you about everything especially when you don't do something they way they thought it ought to be done. Bossy women think they know better than others.

They will try to tell what to wear, what to eat, what tom watch on tv, what music to listen to. And If you want them go some where with you and they don't want to they say no. And that my friend is not togetherness or love.

People in love will go with their mate anywhere so long as they are together. Modern women in the 2000s just have rebellious bad attitudes. Women weren't nasty like this in the 70s. In the 70s they stood by their man. They were the glue that held the relationship together.

Your bossy girlfriend will invade your home and takes charge of how it is arranged and decorated. They want to tell you how to spend your money.

The easiest way to deal with a bossy woman is to not date one to begin with. Guys if you are in one of these bossy argumentative relationships with a woman with a bad attitude. Get out of it or take charge. Don't be a wuss you're the man you run the show if she don't like it then she needs to go.

I should have gotten rid of mine from the beginning, after dealing with her, I wound up 26,000 in debt, with no credit, lost 3 cars and 2 jobs, 2 retirement funds, health insurance and 2 homes. This has been a very costly learning experience and to those of you that can relate to it I met her online.

So when I tell you to get out if you're in a relationship with a bossy women its to keep you from going through all I've been through. Remember if a woman is sent to you from God she will bring with her love and affection not arguments and misery. That is a good way to tell if she's for real.

Girls don't like a guy they can walk all over, but the bossy ones will try to anyway. They like to push you to how much they get away with. Some like to keep breaking up with you just to see how many times they get you back. It give them some to boast about to make them look big and you look weak.Don't let them do it if they break up with you tell to hit the road.

Her attitude is unlikely to change. It is rare to find a woman who is satisfied with her relationship, she always feels that she is being abused and can find a better man. But with me it was like the boy that cried wolf once too many times. I just finally saw her for what she was and lost all attraction to her. She killed her own relationship.

It was my gain and her loss. I'm very pleased that I got away from her before I got married, because I would have been in a very miserable relationship. You might say I got saved by the bell. I was in one bad marriage with a ding-a-ling and I wasn't about to marry another one.

Breast Health - Dispelling Fears

(The information contained in this article does not constitute medical advice; please consult a physician if you have questions about breast health issues raised in this article.)

The primary, if not number one, concern of American women is that they will develop breast cancer. At least that was the biggest fear of those who answered a government survey in 2005. Dread of the disease lurks in the hearts of those who have witnessed their friends and relatives die of it.  Adverse breast health also has a psychosocial component, fueled by fears of loss of femininity, beauty, youthful appearance, sex appeal, marital intimacy and other factors valued in Western culture.

Women need not fear the disease as they have in the past. I had it at 43, and again at 52. Now at 56 I am cancer free, living a full life. Not only do I garden, enjoy my sons, and write, but I also volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the National Lymphedema Network, an organization dedicated to helping people with lymphedema, a swelling that can be caused by cancer surgery or radiation. Helping others takes my mind off my plight.

While in 2009 new cases of invasive breast cancer in the U.S. are predicted by the American Cancer Society to be 192,370 and deaths 40,170, the good news is that fewer women are dying of the disease than in prior years. New treatments have revolutionized patient care, the result of multiple clinical trials testing new chemo regimens and targeted therapies such as Herceptin, Tykerb, Avastin, and aromatase inhibitors. Early detection also plays a role: the sooner the disease is found, the sooner it can be treated before it spreads. Mammograms, clinical checkups, and self-exams are important prevention tools, especially starting at age 40 if no other risks exist.

A closer look at breast health reveals that while some risk factors can't be changed, including age, genetics, race, and family history, some lifestyle choices can reduce the risk of receiving a breast cancer diagnosis. One proven factor appears to be obesity. If a woman falls within that category (a body-mass index (BMI) of 30 or more), she should try to lose weight. Another factor in the breast-cancer-risk equation is exercise: swimming, walking, climbing and jogging exemplify the kind of aerobic activities that are beneficial to breast health.

Women who never bore children, and those who gave birth to their first child after 30, face a slightly higher risk of breast cancer.  Being pregnant multiple times in her twenties improves breast health for women, perhaps because pregnancy reduces the total number of lifetime menstrual cycles.

Those using birth control pills have a slightly greater risk of breast cancer than women who never used them.  A doctor can elaborate on the risks and benefits of birth control pills.

Another factor shown to increase the risk of breast cancer is long-term use of progesterone hormone therapy (PHT) or estrogen replacement therapy (ERT). Again, a knowledgeable physician should be able to discuss the pros and cons of using these types of hormone therapies. One suggestion might be to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time necessary.

Breast-feeding may slightly lower breast cancer risk, particularly if it lasts 1½ to 2 years. This could be because breast-feeding lowers a woman's total number of menstrual periods, as does pregnancy.

Studies have shown that use of alcohol increases the risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Women who consume two to five drinks daily have about 1½ times the risk of women who don't drink.  For optimum breast health experts suggest limiting drinks to one a day, preferably only two to three times a week.

If a close family member had breast cancer, the woman should make sure she is monitored more closely, and ask her doctor if she should be checked for the BRCA-1 or -2 gene and if she is a good candidate for daily tamoxifen or some other preventative drug, or even for preventative surgery.

It is important to remember that while breast health should be monitored regularly, there is no need to obsess over it or fear it to the point that activities like work and parenting get shoved aside. In other words, we should enjoy life! A breast cancer diagnosis is not the end of the world.

Women are encouraged to take charge of their lives and dispel the myths that might be keeping them paralyzed in fear of their breast health going awry.

Breast Obsessions and Body Image - Seven Tips to Go From Obsessions to Health

From Booby-Trapped to Treasured Chest

1. Why breast? Why now?

At the same time, during 1940's when large female breasts were 'discovered' as the most efficient vehicle for promoting merchandize, advertisements agencies started using the image of large size female breasts for selling everything from toothpaste to cars.

The wishes of women, who perceived their breasts to be too small, came true with the invention of breast implants.

Now, with the advances of science, medicine, technology and art, the age of breast enhancement is here to stay. Millions of women volunteer to change their breast size and shape with hope to feel sexier, attractive or even just 'normal', the new normal that is.

2. Shame: The new emotion of our generation

Never before had the emotion 'shame' been self-inflicted on an entire generation of women.

Ask a healthy cheer-leader, a mother of three or a post-menopause grandmother: what is one body-part that 'cost' you the most energy, fantasy, grief, pride, pleasure and shame? Well, breasts will often be the first choice, while nose and hair will occupy far second and third choices...

Many women now treat their breasts as foreign objects. Our culture is only too happy to play along with their perceptions, frustrations and hopes.

All past generations, since the beginning of time, were concerned with women breasts as well. However, size and shape were not on anybody's mind.

The true function of female breasts - breast feeding - was the main interest of the human family.

Shame for the appearance of one's breasts is culture's invention of the past several decades.

3. Large enough breasts on a size zero female body - the new dilemma

According to women fashion magazines and the entertainment industry; a female's body size of zero with large size breasts is the new standard of beauty. This standard is running havoc in the body-image and health of millions of young women.

However, as you know, breasts are partially made of fat cells. The logic that follows is that very thin women would not develop large size breasts, right?

Well, who needs logic when you can have it all?

The combined forces of breast obsession and unhealthy body image have inspired the solution to the dilemma. Now a very thin body with large breast implants is the latest 'hot look' for women of all ages.

4. 'Looking sexy' is not necessarily feeling sexy

Body image is the perceptions/fantasies/wishes and sometime negative feelings we attach to our live body.

A woman could walk into a department store, buy all the latest fashions, cosmetics and accessories and be told by an army of sales associates, friends and lovers that she looks great, sexy, attractive and so on.

Coming home, removing the make-up and clothes: will those feelings linger?

In most cases that I have interviewed, encountered and treated, the looks of the person did not transmit the message to the body: I feel sexy.

The gap between feeling one's powers and identity vs. one's looks is widening. The reason for the gap is the barrages of messages around us combined with too little knowledge of our own body.

5. Teens and breast implants; the unseen dangers

Did you hear that the most popular high school graduation gift for girls is breast implants? Well, you have heard the wrong information. The car is back as the gift of choice for the graduates. And breast implants? Don't worry, they did not disappear; they are the imperative gift for the Sweet Sixteen!

The danger here is that the process of sexualizing the mind of the young girl is starting before the fully developed body gave the signals: I am ready.

This process is irreversible. No therapists, drugs or treatments can give your child back their innocence.

Breast implants on a child of sixteen, or anytime before maturity is damaging and permanent.

6. Are men breast obsessed? Are women?

Men are attracted to women's bodies and body-parts for the survival of our species.

Some men are attracted to a certain female's body part more than other parts.

However, in the last couple of decades women 'took over' the lead and fascination with size and shape of females' breast as their own interests. These days, breasts and other body-part obsessions and the industries behind them service women's body image needs.

7. Is there a way out from obsession?

Yes.

The healing of an obsession is a process that encompasses one's mental health, strength of character, spirituality and more.

It will engage your self awareness: are you aware of obsessions/preoccupations interfering with the quality of your life?

Breast obsession and body image issues are now a mental health hazard with a lot of painful consequences. In many instances you can see the beginning of the obsessions in boys and girls early on in their teen years.

Yes, I did say boys. We 'teach' boys at very young age how mom and dad are fascinated by large breasts... It's somewhat like a code we are passing down the generations.

Therefore, one of the best ways to deal with the young generation's skewed outlook on the human body is to treat it as a family issue.

There are powerful results when energy is focused on positive, healthy aliveness rather than the concerns of breast obsessions and body image issues.

Causes of Hair Loss in Women - What Are the Facts?

Are you as frustrated as I am? We have such an abundance of information at our fingertips these days and often it is hard to determine the true facts. I am a simple person and here are simple facts that you should know.

Causes of hair loss in women can be narrowed down into three main categories; hereditary, hormone swings or imbalances, and serious health issues.

Heredity

Heredity is the primary factor in determining whether a woman or man will encounter a thinning of the crown. Nearly 85 million Americans are faced with some amount of balding on their scalp. For women, 1 in 4 will encounter a reduction of their hair due to their genetic make up.

While men generally have a distinct receding hairline, women tend to experience a thinning throughout the front and top of the scalp without distinct lines.

The good news is that hereditary hair loss is treatable with an FDA approved medication called minoxidil. This is the only medication approved by the FDA for women. While minoxidil can not guarantee your hair will re-grow, it is highly likely that it will slow or stop the balding condition. About 20% to 25% of women do experience addition growth.

Hormone Swings or Imbalances

Hormonal swings or imbalances are brought about for many reasons. When this happens, it is not uncommon for women to experience a reduction in her mane. Oftentimes, once the body returns back to its normal state, re-growth will occur.

Childbirth can cause an imbalance of hormones resulting in a thinning on the scalp. Fortunately, your body is likely to return back to its normal state and your locks should return.

Thyroid imbalances should certainly be discussed and diagnosed with your doctor. These conditions can normally be treated, and after words your hair will likely re-grow. So it is important to consult your physician for the proper treatments.

Serious Health Issues

As many know, serious health issues and treatments may cause your crown to thin or disappear altogether. Unfortunately, my first hand experience when my wife underwent chemotherapy was devastating for her. However, the good news is that her beautiful locks all came back.

It is important to talk with your doctor about what medications have the side affect of thinning on your crown, and to ask for alternatives if that is an option.

Conclusion

Causes of hair loss in women are varied. Research has not been as in depth as one might hope. Fortunately, there are some facts that can be gleaned from all the conflicting information we are faced with so often. And that is at this time in our history, only one medication has the FDA approval for female pattern baldness. That medication is minoxidil applied twice a day. A few well known names offer this treatment. I personally recommend Provillus, do your own research before making any decisions.

Celebrity Beauty Tips - Hairstyles and Beauty Tips of the Stars

Celebrities enjoy huge fan following especially when it comes to beauty and style matters. Being a style-icon a celebrity is imitated by his admirers once he builds an image. A celebrity beauty tip, whether it be about skin care, acne prevention, hair styling, reducing body weight or any other issue related to improving looks has always been cherished by the admirers. Adjudged from this angle, the best celebrity beauty tip of the present age seems to be being ones own self.

Inspired by the doctrine that beauty comes in all sizes, shapes and colors and is more about self-expression than mere imitation of someone else's style, modern fans go for personal styling. A few generations back an individual would be content with just getting an Elvis Presley hair cut or a Marilyn Monroe makeup even if that gave a more or less dumb look. A present generation Tom Cruise admirer instead customizes the star's hairstyle to best suit his personality. Similarly, a woman obsessed with Julia Roberts may not opt for a curly crop, but rather sport her hair straight, a la Brooke Shield's style.

The same celebrity beauty tip holds for make up and attires. Considering the camera glares and flashes they are exposed to, it is very fitting that a beauty pageant winner or a celebrity will settle on heavy makeup and some out of the ordinary clothing. However, when adopted in everyday lives, the too gorgeous, overtly glamorous looks will best be termed 'blunders' on the fashion-front. No wonder that young women go for a lot of scaling down and opt for the 'girl next door' look rather than the 'Diva' look.

Most celebrities consider beauty as 'not just skin deep', and hence concentrate a lot on health care and grooming. With useful advices as natural and homemade beauty tips on skin, hair care and on other health related issues, this happens to be the most helpful aspect of celebrity worship. Although most of the beauty secrets shared by the stars are no different from the natural beauty tips one has grown up with, youngsters pay heed to these time tested beauty secrets only when it comes in the form of a celebrity beauty tip.

A celebrity beauty tip can be anything such as

o Sticking to healthy lifestyle

o Giving the body its regular quota of exercises

o Increased intake of water

o Meditation

o Direct application of natural products like honey, milk, etc.

o Application of homemade beauty potions

o Application of other beauty treatments like TCA skin peels, etc.

The perfect combination of homemade beauty tips with occasional TCA peels seems the right answer when it comes to stopping the onslaught of professional stress and makeup. The fast-action TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) skin peels cause acne, pigmentation problems, scars and wrinkles to vanish in matter of moments and is perfectly safe. With the effects of the chemical skin exfoliation lasting for 6 months to a year, application by medical practitioners is recommended. The wide acceptance of TCA peels in the medical community has made it much more than just a celebrity beauty tip.
