Society Is Finally Catching Up - Single by Choice!

Growing up in Toronto showed me that there were all kinds of walks of life. One of the biggest impacts on my life was a simple trip to Yorkdale as a young adult. It gave me the chance to see so many successful, young urban women who were doing something crazy....paying for their shoes with their own credit card. Crazy isn't it! I used to go to the mall with my mom and while she was looking around at the merchandise, I was admiring the freedom and independence that these women exuded. I remember saying right there and then, that is how I wanna be when I grow up.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I never want to get married and have a family- just not yet. I have chosen to do something for myself first, which is become stable and independent. And guess what ( contrary to my grandmothers belief) I am not alone.

Recent statistics will tell you that the average age of people getting married has gone up. If I look at just my close group of girlfriends, most of us own our own condos, have a car and a career that we are working at. We still enjoy the night out with friends and meeting new people, but the only difference is that it happens less and we are on a more limited budget. This doesn't stop us from going out and enjoying the freedom to do what we feel like doing. Even those of us who are in relationships are holding on to our condos instead of moving in with the boyfriend to save money. Financial freedom is imperative to young women- now more than ever.

It's not about being rich or driving a nice car, instead it's about knowing that we can take care of ourselves and walk into our place at night saying "I did this". It is the most satisfying and rewarding feeling!

It occurred to me that this type of lifestyle may even make our relationships stronger and more successful- who knows? According to a BMO Retirement Institute study released in 2011: 40 per cent of women will divorce before their 30th wedding anniversary and a women's standard of living drops an average of 45 per cent the first year after divorce.

Some people might find these findings shocking- but not me. It is a personal choice to live alone, work hard and play hard. The choice itself might just be the reason we do it! The next chapter in life will include marriage and a family and I might even have to give up the safe haven of my condo, but at least I know that I did it and I can do it again should I need to or choose to!

Tae-Bo Workout (SET OF 4: Basic, Instructional, Advanced, 8-minute Workout) [VHS]

Billed as the "future of fitness" and hawked by numerous celebrities, Billy Blanks's Tae-Bo actually deserves much of the hype it's receiving. A mixture of boxing punches and martial arts kicks, Tae-Bo is fun and easy. One of the best elements of this four-tape set is that the first tape (which is 40 minutes long), Tae-Bo: Instructional, lays out the movements you need to successfully complete a workout. Once you've mastered the steps, you won't have to fast-forward through half the tape to get to the workout, nor will your workout be slowed down by the repeated lessons. After you feel comfortable with the movements (and they're really quite easy to follow; nothing too complicated to trip you up), you're ready to move on to Tae-Bo: Basics, a 27-minute workout (5 minutes of warm-up, 18 minutes of Tae-Bo, and 4 minutes of cool-down) that will have your heart pounding and your body sweating. Next comes Advanced, a 57-minute workout that will have your heart racing, pulse pounding, and sweat glands working overtime. There's razzmatazz on the moves, with slightly more complicated combinations that should be fairly easy to master if you've completed the first two tapes. This video seriously raises the bar on the difficulty factor.

In addition to the short warm-up, the cool-down, and the 30 minutes of Tae-Bo, Advanced Tae-Bo also includes 18 minutes of muscle-crunching floor work. You know you're in trouble when even the guys in the tape have trouble keeping up. Make sure you have truly mastered the first two tapes before attempting this one. The 8-Minute Workout is a highly compacted workout (actually 14 minutes long when you include warm-up and cool-down) for those days when you're too short on time for Basic or Advanced. While the 8-minute idea is compelling, it's not an adequate substitute for the longer workouts. Blanks, a seven-time World Martial Arts champion, is a superb instructor, providing encouragement and careful instruction (if you don't know by the end of the tape to hold in your stomach, that's no one's fault but your own). The only downside to these tapes is the less-than-exciting music. Not only is Tae-Bo great exercise for all levels, but the punches and kicks are wonderful for working out stress and aggression. This is the aerobics exercise video for people who are bored by aerobics. --Jenny Brown

Mothers Are Special

Ever wondered what life would be like without mothers? Without their care, love and affection; a house devoid of their traces in that place we call home. Without their tender, loving touches in so many tiny details of our lives.

A place dull without their constant badgering and questionings, without them to check on us, on our going out and coming in.

Without them to add warmth to a kitchen fire hearth; a homecoming without their presences to greet us or take us in; without them to begin a day; to wake up in the morning, devoid of their sweetness; a life without them, an empty life without mothers to fill goodness to our days!

It's their unconditional love that made us what we are today. And having them around is one of the greatest blessings we can ever ask for. They have always given us that charm, that smile, that confidence, that assurance that we will never be able to find elsewhere or in somebody else.

And yet, we may never understand the love they have always carried for us. That sacrificial love that goes beyond explanation. That same love that gave them the strength to stand for us, to put us before them in such loving ways, to go the extra mile just to provide us with our needs and so much more.

Mothers will always hold special places in our hearts. No matter how grown we are or regardless of where we have reached in life, they will continue to be the light in our moments of grief, the hope in our despair, and perhaps the only one in this whole wide world who will still be proud of what you are without thinking twice.

The strength of a mother always amazes me. How they take care of their children and raise them in the manner they should do. How, they are always there for them from the moment a child is conceived right up to the journey that the child has accomplished. It amazes me how they forgo their sleep simply for the sake of their child. How they wake up in the middle of the night just to calm their cries. That, at such odd hours, they do not mind doing it all over again and again, till a child is all grown and on his/her own.

It amazes me how they take such pride in their children's little victories! How mothers cheer for them when they take their first steps or say their first word. How they make sure their paths are clear when they are left out to explore their little worlds. How their hearts break to see them injured and their minds preoccupied with thoughts of their children always and always.

Mothers who never credit themselves for bringing up fine citizens of the society. It amazes me how, even years after their children settle down and get a life of their own, mothers will still think the world of them and be there for them, always with their words of wisdom and experience.

How they can never get enough of us, and put such love in our homes that we cannot begin to imagine our comfort zones without them, no matter how nagging they may seem sometimes. It's to them we owe all our respect and love. Because they gave us life that we cannot repay, because they love us just the way we are and have always loved us enough to reprimand or hurt us when we go the wrong way, and because there is just no replacement for a mother, there is no reason why we shouldn't hold her in our hearts with gratefulness. And indeed, always love and respect her for what she is.

Must-Have Handbags for Summer

Summer is a time of bright colors and light fabrics. We put away our sweaters and boots and pull out flimsy tops and flip-flops. Most of us even lock away our winter clothes so that we don't have to think about cold and wet days for a long time. There is a good chance that at least one item in your closet won't find its way into the winter pile, though. All too often, we hang onto the handbag that we're carrying and forget to find something that is better suited to the heat and humidity of summer.

That should change this summer. You should start thinking about the bag that you want to carry--whether you love Italian leather purses or something woven and colorful. Chances are good that your current bag has seen quite a bit of abuse throughout the winter months, so go ahead and give yourself permission for a new treat. Then consider your personal style so that you know exactly where to look when you shop.

How to Choose the Right Leather Handbag for Summer

If you keep a casual and laid back appearance most of the time, then you would probably continue to trend more toward the slouchy leather shoulder bags. These come in quite a few styles, including the classic hobo silhouette. Even if you love the leather, that's no reason to consider the bag too heavy for the summer months. These leather bags can come in pastel colors. In fact, there is nothing more striking than a pristine white leather bag made from butter-soft leather.

Handbags for the Active and Outdoorsy

Hobo silhouettes aren't the only style that scream summer. With longer days and balmy evenings, you may want to spend more time on a bicycle. This means you'll need your hands free. Why not look into side saddle bags that fit over your shoulder and give you the ability to steer your bike without worrying about losing the contents of your purse? You can find them in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Most people appreciate leather saddle bags because they hold up to the elements and keep their shape even when you're a bit rough with them.

Accessories for the Glamourous Gal

Of course, the summer isn't complete without the nights spent dancing under the stars. If you need something a little classier for your nighttime activities, you can look at clutches and wristlets. It's not always necessary to get the flashiest one available, either, and that's why clutches and wristlets come in a variety of colors and textures. You can certainly find one with sequins if you wish, or you could find a smooth and classic leather wristlet. There are colors to match anything in your wardrobe, and that gives you even more options for accessorizing. If you're really fashion forward, you can match the bags to your shoes, too. Take a look at some of the leather clutches and wristlets that are available, and you won't be able to resist having one of your very own. Ah, go on and get two. They're small.

Naughty and Nice Hen Night Ideas

A hen night is a chance to celebrate during the weeks or days leading up to your wedding. You can host your own hen night or rely on a close friend to organize the details. The parties range from innocent fun to crazy times you will remember forever, but avoid sharing with your church group or grandmother. Hen nights are a great way for girls to get together, relax, let their hair down and celebrate the changes that will come with marriage and maturity.

There are a number of great ideas for hen night parties. Most events begin with dinner at a local restaurant and a few drinks to get everyone loosened up. Some groups choose to rent a limousine or bus so there are no worries about drinking alcohol and driving. Others save money by appointing one unlucky attendee as driver. However, if you have a friend who usually abstains from alcohol, she can take over driving duties for the night and still feel as if she is a part of things. This is a great role for a younger member of the wedding party who is old enough to drive, but too young to drink.

Following dinner, the ladies in your party can head to a dance club, a bar or a strip club featuring male dancers. Letting loose and acting crazy is an important part of the tradition of hen nights. Even if the bride is usually reserved and proper, this is the one occasion she can really let her hair down and behave out of character.

Some prefer more organized events for hen nights than heading to bars and clubs. A show might be a great solution for partiers looking for wild fun in a more structured environment. Dance revues featuring male dancers are in many of the bigger entertainment cities such as Las Vegas and New York City. These shows usually provide ticket packages and might offer special discounts for hen nights. Many are also willing to pull the bride onstage to be part of the show. This is fun for everyone involved, though the bride might feel a little embarrassed.

Hen nights can also be celebrated at home. If you are looking for a way to save money on the party, ensure a safe environment or prefer a private environment where anything goes, a house party is the perfect solution. Everyone can enjoy a meal at home and then gather in the living room for drinks and wild fun. There are plenty of naughty games available for girls to play or you could hire dance entertainment to visit your home. There is no need to worry about a designated driver for at-home hen nights, so let your hair down and everyone can spend the night so there is no excuse to not have a great time.

New Treatments for Hair Loss in Women

Females are in a "Catch-22" position with regards to drug treatments for hair thinning. Whilst numerous drugs might function to some degree for some women, doctors are reluctant to prescribe them, and drug businesses are not precisely falling over themselves to test existing or new drugs particularly for their capability to stop and treat female pattern baldness.

Physicians are reluctant to prescribe systemic treatments (pills or other type of treatment that affects your whole program) simply because they are able to tamper together with your body's own androgen levels (see Causes for an explanation of androgens). The physician will initial wish to confirm that the hair falling out is because of an excess of androgen (an additional name for male hormones) within the program or perhaps a sensitized "over-response" to regular amounts of androgen. Consequently, physicians frequently select topical treatments, that are applied directly to the scalp.

Beginning treatment as soon as one can following the hair thinning ensures the very best outcomes, simply because prolonged androgenetic alopecia might destroy a lot of the hair follicles. The use of anti-androgens following prolonged hair loss will assist to stop further harm and encourage some hair regrowth from follicles that have been dormant but are still viable. Stopping treatment will result in the hair loss resuming if the androgens are not kept in check in some other way. Maintaining your vitamin and mineral levels will be of benefit whilst you are on anti-androgen medications.

You'll discover a list of treatments for hair loss in women. Presently there's only 1 FDA-approved treatment for female pattern hair loss. Other options have not been approved by the FDA for this specific application, but have been approved for other applications and are utilized "off-label" to treat hair loss.

The effectiveness of these agents and techniques varies from individual to individual, but numerous ladies have discovered that utilizing these treatments have created a positive distinction in their hair and their self-esteem. As expected, treatments have the very best opportunity of having a positive result if they're geared to the underlying cause of the hair thinning as well as hair growth.

While there exists a few options of specific medical treatments that offer OK results, depending on exactly what is causing the hair loss, and the degree, many experts say there are a whole range of natural treatments that can yield important benefits for women concerned about hair loss. One of the first steps to take is eating a healthy, nutritious diet.

In addition there are some powerful natural supplements that can combat baldness.

Hair loss can be really devastating, embarrassing and confusing. You can learn more about effective treatments for women in my provillus reviews.

Pole Dancing Fun For A Hen Party

Pole dancing at a hen party is one of the funniest ways to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of a friend. The phenomena became popular in Las Vegas, arguably the most popular place for this type of dance in any scenario. Burlesque dancers and strippers use a pole as part of their dance routines and the pole has become synonymous with sexy dancing and seduction. There are plenty of men out there who equate the dancing with forbidden behavior, like seeing burlesque dancers or strippers. Even if they have experience seeing the real thing, it is a common fantasy for men to see their significant other dancing in a seductive manner. This is what makes the pole dancing classes so popular for women.

In addition to offering your future husband a spicy and entertaining dance, pole dancing is also a great workout. Learning to dance effectively gives you a cardio boost and keeps your muscles toned and tight. Some of the more advanced techniques of pole dancing can be extremely physically challenging, and are best left up to those in great shape. Most of the pole dancing classes attended by hen parties are not this advanced, but they do teach basic techniques, as well as how to move your body in a seductive manner.

There are pole dancing classes offered in towns throughout the country. Pole dancing class offers the basics in pole dancing and is a great opportunity for a hen party to learn to shimmy and shake with their friends.

If you are thinking about including this type of dancing class in your hen party celebration, there are a few things to consider. First, will all of the guests attending the party want to participate? If you think anyone will be uncomfortable, you might want to choose a different activity.

Next, think about the physical fitness level and physical abilities of those in your group. If anyone is injured or has a disability, the dancing might not work. The same is true for parties with older guests or guests who are very overweight.

Finally, think about the cost and the practicality of the experience. The classes are not excessively expensive, but it might be tough to expect party guests to pay a fee to attend the party. If there is a chance the bride will think a pole dancing class is a silly waste of time, it would be better to choose another option. However, you should not let a little embarrassment stop you from including a class in your party plans. The whole point is to let loose and celebrate, even if that means looking a little silly.

Postpartum Recovery and Non-Judgment

Do you judge yourself for having postpartum? I did. I thought I was a failure as a mother. This only worsened my depression. I was already in Hell, and I was falling further into an abyss. I became hopeless, despondent and depressed. I could not make myself feel better. I thought that if I had to change one more diaper I'd drive off a cliff.

One of the things I needed to do was to STOP JUDGING MYSELF and my progress. I would look at other mothers around me and ALWAYS come up less than. I would compare myself. Why could they breast feed and I could not? How come they seemed to manage the sleep deprivation better than I did?

What was wrong with me? There were days and days and days where I really HATED being a mom. I loved my daughter, but this job of being a MOM was awful and I could never see myself "loving the job". I was a mess! It seemed as if all my "Mommy" friends were enjoying and EVEN loving having a new born. I was trying to "fake" that was "enjoying this phase" when in fact, I was hating every minute. But, I just could not get "right sized" about my feelings. I COULD not let myself off the hook. Every day was painful. I was an emotional train wreck.

I sought treatment. Had I not, I might have gone off the deep end (I was pretty much there anyways) my marriage would have failed and I might have lost my daughter. Fortunately non of these things came to pass. But the journey I had to take to recover, involved giving myself a HUGE break.

I am a survivor and knew I would get "to the other side". It was a very long, arduous task, but the worst was behind me, even though I did not know that at the time. It really was "one day at a time", learning the difference between reality and fantasy. And part of that fantasy was that I was somehow a horrible mother and every negative feeling I had about mothering only exacerbated my judgmental feelings.

In every session, my therapist would help me to recognize what was real and what was a fantasy. She was really patient with me. It was as if I had to refuse her perspective every time, until I could take it out and "wear" it and realize she was mostly right. I started to put pieces of myself back together. Kind of like Humpty Dumpty. I was an accident victim learning to walk again.

Eventually, learning how to not judge myself so mercilessly and giving myself a break, I was able to create new "brain paths" and started new belief systems. Over time, a lot of the drama and negative thinking started to recede. I gained new tools for living and started to enjoy more and more mental health as time went by.

In time, I was able to look back and realize that I was not judging myself as harshly as I had. And I started to see that other moms struggled too and that mothering is not really easy for anyone, every day of the week. Going through this process has not only made me a 'better' mom, but personally, I am a better and happier, more content woman. I am NOT the same person I was before, I am a better incarnation of the "girl" I used to be.

Pregnancy and Hair Dye

A little help with Hair dye and Pregnancy

There are many examples of hair dye being absorbed in to your body, but there is not enough information to promise with certainty that using chemical dyes during pregnancy is absolutely safe. So many expectant women wait out the first three months. As no one has any human data to show these chemicals cause birth defects we assume it is safe in the later part of pregnancy.

This is a topic which human testing would be unethical so it remains largely unproven and we have to look to other affects that may be present in the body for people who regularly use hair dye.

Animal studies were undertaken trying to illuminate this matter. Some, studies have shown a few of the chemical compounds in hair dyes to be carry a risk of birth defects. However, many of these animals are exposed to extreme doses of these chemicals, doses far exceeding the exposure of the woman who colours her hair every six weeks.

The chemicals in both semi-permanent and permanent colours are not highly toxic in small doses applied externally. These chemicals have been used for a great deal of time, and no investigations show they cause defects in unborn children, so colouring your hair during pregnancy is may be safe. Of course if you follow the safety instructions for application and are familiar with the MSDS (ie: using gloves in a well-ventilated room, and not exceeding application f times), you don't really absorb much of the chemicals into your body Only a small amount will enter your blood stream, About 60% of the variety of colour ingredients are absorbed in small quantities when using a high volume developer above 6%.

A great alternative you might consider is foils, balayage, or Cap highlights your hair. You absorb hair colouring agents into your system through your scalp, not through your hair folicle. So, most highlighting procedures only allow you to only contact the product while it is rinsed off. Thus reducing the time of exposure to your skin and diluting the products during the contact time.

This does not prevent any of the inhalation exposure and if the area is poorly ventilated or irritating your eyes or nose even if you are finding it unpleasant the airflow or exhaust is most likely insufficient.

Some experts recommend henna or vegetable dyes as a good alternative to synthetic chemical agents during pregnancy one of the best professional products is made by farouk systems "Chi" which has been rated by the US body the FDA as one of the safest professional hair dyes.

Something to observe is the packaging on home brand or DIY colours these dyes also contain many of the same synthetic chemical compounds that the major cosmetic companies put in their hair dyes and they will have a trade marked name that implies a natural colour, so read the ingredients to be sure. Pure henna, which comes in reds and browns, is an exception. Henna is a semi-permanent vegetable dye considered to be very safe, though not everyone loves the results like poor coverage of grey hair or a lengthy application process and processing time!

It's important for you feel good about your pregnancy and that you are happy with the choices you have for your baby while he or she is growing. Whether its colouring your hair to make you feel brighter or getting a facial it is best not cause yourself stress for nine months find something you enjoy that you are satisfied is safe. If it is important to you, seek advice from professionals like your OBGYN or GP, your hairdresser may have their own motivation. So read a few articles speak to a knowledgeable professional but make a decision for yourself and enjoy this time.

Sewn in Hair Extensions - To Weave or Not

Many women wish to have long and flowing hair, but some women still struggle to obtain the long look no matter how long they have allowed their hair to grow. Because of this fact they can easily use hair extensions to help them easily achieve the look that would like to have. Despite if you have curly or thin hair you are still able to successfully use hair extensions. Sew in extensions are an example that you can utilize your wanted look.

These can also be referred to weave hair extensions as well. Much like the name suggests these extensions are easily sewn into or even braided into the hair on your scalp. Braiding tracks into your natural hair is the first step to fixing the extensions. The tracks that are used can also be curved, horizontal and even vertical based on the way the head contours. A good stylist will be able to successfully blend the hair tracks in such a way to your natural hair so that it goes undetected.

One of the biggest pros to using sewn in hair is the fact that you can quickly achieve your desired long locks in a relatively short amount of time instead of having to try and patiently wait months for your natural hair to grow out on its own. Those long flowing locks can be yours just as fast as your stylist can sew them in. Utilizing these extensions does not require you to make a drastic change to your appearance. Simply put this means that your hair can remain braided despite your daily use of styling tools such as a curling iron or flat iron. If you suffer from hair loss then you can rest assure that these are a great way to help you once again feel confident.

Now, if they are not applied in the appropriate manner then it can make for a rather disastrous appearance. Possible hair pulling can occur when the hair extensions are being applied and naturally this can lead to some type of pain or discomfort. This can also cause some of your hair to be damage. It can also be bad if you do not take proper care of your extensions and if you or your stylist are not careful when they are being applied because this can not only cause damage to your natural hair but to the extensions as well. Naturally cost of these variety of extensions and the amount you may be required to pay your stylist can also be a potential con.

In conclusion, it will be in your best interest to speak with your stylist about how they will be applying the sewn in extensions!

In shaping eyebrows there are numerous things you must do in order to get the best results. Follow these Do's and you in no time will have the brows you've always wanted.

DO determine the best eyebrow shape for you.

Before you touch your brow, be sure you have a plan. Choose the location where the brow should start as well as exactly where it needs to end. Determine the position where you want the arch of your eyebrow to start. This will aid you in getting that perfect shape and outcome you desire. Shaping eyebrows can be somewhat intimidating. Therefore, you will want to have the proper tools to easily make your brows beautiful! Once you have determined the hair you would like to remove be careful to not stray off course.

DO trim your eye-brows, but only if necessary.

Not only will you be wasting your time and effort shaping your eyebrows by using less-than-perfect quality tweezers but you will certainly get frustrated with the effects. Quality tweezers may actually cost you $20 or more but they are truly a very good investment for your proper grooming and eyebrow shaping routine.

Spring/Summer 2011 Makeup: Bare, Bright and Sexy

As we finally bid adieu to the frostbiting paleness of winter and holiday glam makeup, the warmer weather gladly brings us this season's Spring/Summer 2011 makeup trends that welcome the freshness of spring and the brightness of summer. Makeup and fashion are similar to Beavis and Butthead. They are in tandem. And so, before stocking up on your floral dresses, oh-so-sexy bikinis and bright prints, let us take a look at this season's makeup trends.

Spring/Summer 2011 makeup brings us back to the basics that accentuate the features without looking cakey. Recent fashion shows have showcased natural, barely there makeup, pops of color on the lips and on the lids, as well as soft, sensual eyes.

Barely There Makeup

One of this season's popular summer trends is the Barely There, or the Natural looking makeup. Now seriously, who can beat that? This is the kind of makeup look that best accentuates your features, and one that will be used over and over again. It is so versatile that you can practically use this makeup for any occasions, from shopping to work, and even at the gym, especially if there are a ton of hot guys around (Flirting at the gym with Lady Gaga-ish makeup definitely attracts attention, but sometimes not in the way you wanted it to).

There are tons of makeup products that are available for you to be able to create a Barely There Makeup Look. Whatever products you choose, you will still be able to practically get the same look. Remember that your face serves as a canvass, so living a healthy lifestyle will reflect on your skin. In order to achieve that, always drink 8 glasses of water a day, eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Bright Lips

If you want to take your Barely There Makeup to the next level, instead of sporting nude or neutral lip shades, you can opt for brighter colors. This makeup trend will be a great transition from day to night. Colors such as fiery reds, bright pinks, and even ones that have an orange tinge definitely makes you stand out. Just add two coats of mascara to widen out your peepers, and then let your lips do the talking.

Soft, Sexy Eyes

Smokey eyes can never go out of style. A look that is ideal for nighttime, this makeup trend brings out the seductress in you. Your eyes are the windows to your soul, and therefore if you are going on a "manhunt", creating shadows on your eyes will make the next testosterone laced individual drawn to you. You can create Smokey Eyes by using shades of gray and black. For more fun colors, you can also opt for dark blues, purples and even greens! False eyelashes add to the appeal as well. A great tip is to keep on practicing this technique, and once you get the hang of it, doing this makeup look will definitely give more meaning to your peepers.

Indeed, Spring/Summer 2011 Makeup has definitely kept to the basics. The looks are such classics that they will be used time and time again. It's definitely fun being a girl!

The Benefits of Online Shopping for Women

For most women, multi-tasking has become a must. The constant demands of work, childcare, running a home and many other commitments on both our time and energy can leave us feeling like there just aren't enough hours in the day. It is perhaps for this reason that online shopping is becoming an increasingly popular choice for women of all ages as they seek to find a better balance in their lives, and perhaps even have a little time left over for themselves! There are many reasons why shopping online should be an attractive proposition for women, here are just a few of them...

Spoilt for choice...

One of the best things about shopping online is the astonishing variety of items available. From hair accessories to household appliances, you'll find whatever you're searching for online at the click of a mouse. Whether you're looking for a new bag to complement your favourite shoes or a whole new outfit, shopping online can offer you more choice and variety than any store you can find on the High Street. You'll find items in every colour, style and size imaginable, and all from the comfort of your own home.

Give your feet a break...

One of the less enjoyable aspects of shopping is marching round dozens of shops for hours on end trying to find what you're looking for. Picture the scene: you've walked for miles (probably in the rain), possibly carrying heavy bags, going from store to store and eventually exhaustion, hunger or fatigue has got the better of you and you've returned home empty handed. Sound familiar? Or even worse, the seemingly never-ending trek has eventually led you to an item you love, only for you to discover that it's out of stock in the size or colour you want. The good news is that there's really no need to put yourself through that torture! Shopping online means no more sore feet or frustrating, fruitless journeys. Now that's got to be a relief...

Be kind to your purse...

Another benefit to shopping online is the potential to save yourself money. Not only is it quick and easy to compare prices on the internet, you'll also find that many stores offer special "internet only" deals that you wouldn't otherwise be able to take advantage of. You'll save yourself money on fuel and parking costs, and as many online retailers now offer free UK delivery it's easy to see how shopping online can be a very cost-effective option.

Speed is of the essence...

Shopping online for gifts is fast becoming the preferred option for both men and women alike. In addition to the huge selection of items available and the potential to grab a bargain, the option to buy a gift for a friend or family member and have it delivered directly to them, gift wrapped of course, is one now being offered by many online retailers. At last, remembering an important birthday or anniversary at the last minute doesn't have to be a disaster! And with many retailers now offering express (or even next day) delivery, the online shopping option seems like the obvious choice. So whether you're in the market for women's fashion accessories or the latest high-tech gadget, you'll find it fast online.

Shop in your pyjamas!

There's no such thing as opening hours when it comes to internet shopping and no dress code either! So if you decide that you really need those new hair straighteners at 2.30am, that's not a problem!

Jingle bells...

The crowds, the queues, the inclement weather, the stress: just a few of the reasons why shopping online at Christmas is by far the most sensible option. Why not stay warm and dry in the comfort of your own home? While those less savvy shoppers trudge through the snow laden down with bags, sit by the fire with your hot chocolate. Bask in the glow of your fairy lights and cross off those items on your Christmas shopping list with a click of your mouse.

No worries...

Internet shoppers are now more aware of the protection that comes with shopping online. Many retailers now accommodate PayPal payments for maximum convenience and security and of course all online purchases are covered by distance selling regulations meaning that you have peace of mind as you shop.

On your marks, get set, accessorise...!

Some of the most popular items purchased online are women's fashion accessories. Without a doubt the range available on the internet outshines those available in the High Street and with online savings to be made, there's never been a better time to treat yourself. Best of all, the internet not only offers you access to the big name women's fashion retailers, but to tens of thousands of smaller boutique style online retail outlets that you may otherwise be unable to access in your area. If you've an eye for women's fashion accessories and are looking for something a little more unique and exclusive, then online shopping is a must.

BagPurse offers an exclusive range of women's fashion accessories where all products are carefully selected to give you the quality and style you want at a price you'll like. With all orders delivered free in the UK, visit us at http://bagpurse.biz/.

The Influence of Colors

The colors have a very big influence on clothes and on the person using it. Choosing the correct combination can give more harmony and a better aesthetic to the look. The color tones can emphasize the beauty of both the clothes and the person or make the person look like a complete disaster. So it's very important to know a little bit about how to combine colors before going shopping.

Does this match? Does this go well with that? What can I wear with this? Are just some of the questions we ask others and ourselves while we shop for clothes. Usually we go with the safe and boring, choice. Black goes well with white and practically every other color, but what about pink and orange? Do they go well together? The answer is YES!!

It is not easy to make the right combinations. To help with that, one can use the Color Circle or the Chromatic Color Circle.

The neighbor colors on the circle are similar and they have the same base color. Example: Dark Yellow and Dark Red have the color Orange in common.

The opposite colors are called complementary colors because they are contrasting each other.

So choosing the complementary colors right, has a huge impact to the end result and if matched improperly, can be a complete disaster. So please be aware of that before going out looking like a Christmas tree!

Even having and understanding the circle, the only safe way you will know if two colors match is by trying and experimenting them together. Usually the most personal outfits are the most original ones. But it is important to know that not all colors match and not all colors compliment each other.

An easy rule

An easy rule to remember and apply is that very similar shades of the same color almost never go well. Lets use two different shades of grey as an example.

A light grey and a medium light grey will look like a rainy day. Sad, boring and not creative (some may call that conservative or professional) but let's be honest, you can be both professional and conservative with shades of rouge, blue and even lilac. By using the same shades of the same color, it will only make you look like you have a bad dress sense. But if you choose two shades that are far apart it will have an amazing effect and still give you the matching look that you're looking for.

In order to make your outfit a bit livelier, dress the grey with pink or yellow.

This will allow you to dress for any occasion, whether professional, casual, smart or even sexy (think secretary).

So the rule is not to try to match two colors that are almost the same. The shades have to be far apart, which also means never to wear jeans on top and bottom.

The Stories Of Nancy Ann Dolls

The Nancy Ann Dolls were famous for its storybook concept. The company began in 1936 and was founded by Nancy Ann Abbott who started her company with only $125 from her apartment. A year after, Nancy hired Allan "Les" Rowland to promote her products and handle her business finances. On February 23, 1937, the Nancy Ann Dressed Dolls was incorporated in San Francisco, California. The company then earned its million dollar income by the year 1942 and in late 1945, the company was renamed to Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls Inc..

The first batch of dolls that was made by the company measured 3 ¾ inches. The baby dolls were made of bisque but the doll bodies were initially made in Japan. In 1936, the Storybook series was launched with doll measuring 5 inches. By 1939, the dolls' bodies were then made locally in California. The facial features of the dolls were hand painted, thus giving the each individual doll its own unique look.

The company manufactured its largest volume of dolls in the US by the late 1940s. Yet it began to slow down by the 1960's due to the deterioration of Nancy Ann's health. In 1964, Nancy Ann Abbott passed away. In 1965, the company file for bankruptcy after Les Rowland's health also started to deteriorate. Eventually, Albert Bourla purchased the company along with other stockholders wherein they continued the company's production of dolls but now they were made in Hong Kong. However, the venture was short-lived and the company auctioned its last remaining doll parts and accessories.

Until Jesco started making storybook dolls which were patterned after Nancy Ann. Still having the copyright for the storybook dolls, Bourla reintroduced the 5.5-inch bisque doll series in 1998. The dolls were to be produced in limited numbers but only four dolls were produced prior to selling the company to sisters Delene Budd and Claudette Buehler in 2003. The new company had then hired doll artist and designer Dianna Effner and costume designer Londie Phillips to revive the Nancy Ann dolls. Their first creation was launched in 2005.

The storybook feature still remained as part of its offering and was still based on nursery rhymes. Nancy Ann's design consisted of 125 characters in 1943 but these were reduced to 77 characters due to some constraints in the costume materials. Nevertheless, the characters have different wardrobes every year since the 1900s. Now, the new doll collection available is still reminiscent of the classic designs and the legacy has still continued.

If you would like to get started in collecting dolls, or introduce a loved one to the tradition of doll collecting it might be a good idea to start with dolls that interest them and are of relatively low cost. Our Generation Dolls are great for younger girls while Monster High Dolls might be better aimed at pre-teen and teenage young ladies.

Three Simple Steps to Achieving Your Properly Fitted Ladies Bra

In recent articles we were able to establish whether to go or not to go for bra measurement. It was simple; any woman including young girls who realise their bust has developed beyond wearing a camisole or cropped top needs more support.

This is mostly due to the back of the bra being too loose or cup size being too small. Most women would love to wear properly fitted bras, but not aware of what to look for or not familiar with the benefits. Achieving this is not as difficult as it often appears to be. Hence, we have suggested three simple steps to make it as easy as possible for one to achieve.

Step 1 Start by wearing your most fitting bra if possible, without a top on. Measure your back size in centimetres for accuracy, by placing a tape measure all around your body just beneath your bust. Starting from the gap in between your bust and finishing there. Make sure the tape measure is parallel and lies firmly flat against you.

Below is a measurement guide for your back size in a bra should be:

60cm-64cm 28 back 75cm-79cm 34 back

65cm-69cm 30 back 80cm-84cm 36 back

70cm-74cm 32 back 85cm-89cm 38 back

If your measurement is above 89cm, simply add on a back size of an additional 4cms following the pattern above and if your measurement falls outside any of the above, take the lower back size.

In following above, after fastening your bra on the loosest or middle hook (this will enable you to tighten the back which will stretch after several washes and wear), the band should be firm and parallel around your body. If your band is too loose, go down a band size. If too tight, go up a size.

Step 2 Place your busts into the cups of the bra which should fill out the cups completely. Where your busts may be of different cup sizes which is perfectly normal, use the bigger bust for measurement (the cup with the smaller bust may be filled out with a bra padding if desired).

If the wires of your bra dig into your busts, your busts overlap the cups or the cups are wrinkled only at the tip, you probably need to go up a cup size. This will also apply where the front of your bra where the gap in between the cups of your bra sits away from you. Also, if your bra cups are wrinkled in most parts due to the cups being too big, you would need to go down a cup size.

Step 3 involves stepping back and considering the final outcome below:

Start off by lifting up your arms to ensure the wires and cradle which is the band that runs under the bra cups does not lift away but sits firmly on you. Then check the straps of your bra do not dig into your shoulders. You may adjust this by loosening the straps. Hence, if you tightened the straps mainly to support your busts, your back size is probably too big and you need to go down a size.

The final check should be based on your personal judgment. At the end of it all, it's all about you and your personal opinion should have the final say!

Mind how you go!
